We remember the unusual case of a leopard lying in the nest of a hamerkop, cleaning itself. the yellow-black predator among the yellow-black birds in a huge bird nest. We had never seen anything so special. We could not believe our eyes when, after a couple of hours, the female got into position and invited the male, not once, not twice, but three times. A few lucky people have seen leopards mating on the ground, but to see them gracefully perform on an abandoned Hamerkop bird nest on top of a tree was an amazing treat.
