A call came in about a dog in urgent need of help, with a broken jaw. Thanks to the kindness and willingness of a compassionate individual, they were able to step in and provide the care this baby needed. They couldn’t help but wonder if someone had kicked Geo, as his broken jaw was a painful and heartbreaking sight.
Despite the severity of his injury, they were relieved to find that Geo had no other lacerations or obvious fractures on his body. They named him Geo, and the estimated 6-month-old pup from Genova street near downtown Houston quickly won their hearts with his sweet and friendly demeanor.
Geo underwent evaluation and X-rays, which confirmed that his jaw was broken in two places. But with love, care, and the expertise of a veterinary specialist, Geo was fitted with a soft muzzle to hold his jaw in place while he healed. He was learning to drink and eat on his own, with the muzzle providing support.
